Recently Jess performed a brilliant before and after on a client. The client went from bleach blond hair to brunette. She had found keeping up with root growth to be a pain and the condition of her hair was suffering. It’s a before and after we couldn’t keep under wraps but as we’ve already written a post on going from blonde to dark…so what can I tell you that’s new?
It then occurred to me that when we work doing what is familiar, we sometimes take the process and the products we use for granted. Our team speak short hand to each other and we get on with mixing colour because we do it all week long.
As you can see the client came in with wrecked hair (sorry…ha hmm.. overly processed hair). Home bleaching is a dicey game! I have said this before, with so much information out available on hair products, how to’s and DIY dye kits. We are living in a world where everyone is a hairdresser or beauty expert. However we have always lived in a world where teenagers think they are invincible and only worry about their looks today but not the consequences later. It’s all about looks and not condition. Yes she now has dark hair but wowsers look at the shine….squeal!
When you come and see us we access the condition of your hair to see what it can handle! Sometimes we need to play with some pretty strong chemicals to get you to where you want to be. However we would rather do it gradually and safely. Rather than lighten all of your hair in one go you may be better off adding in highlights over a few appointments. Sometimes beautiful hair comes to those who wait, even Jennifer Aniston didn’t become a honey striped hottie on her first trip to the salon! We also know that hair condition enhances colour. Shine and gloss are as important and custom mixed colour.
On miss X we used a product called Riflessi. It’s Italian and means reflections of colour. It is a colour mask and we use it to put the colour pigment back into the hair. Riflessi comes in 11 colours, smells kind of fruity and is great stuff! It is also has Vitamin A,B,C conditions the hair and is a great primer before we put on a new colour.
You can also use it to boost colour, as a temporary colour (lasts for 6 washes), to enhance a colour for example use passion red to add a subtle red hue to very dark hair. And finally to balance colour. There is a Lilac colour to take out brassy tones in blondes. If you fancy this we can recommend the right colour and you can use it at home. Yep it is great for you to use at home as it coats the hair surface rather than penetrating into the hair like hair dye does. You can’t go wrong!
Next Jess blasted the ladies hair dry and used our glossing colours which again contain hair strengthening agents that combine with the keratin of the hair and also silk proteins for strength.
Lastly Jess cut the hair. Obviously cutting of the very damaged parts to hair will improve the look and a smoothing blow-dry using Paul Mitchell quick slip blow-dry balm! and finished with water drops serum for added shine. It is all of these steps that give a perfect result.
If you want to improve the condition of your hair as well as the colour we have a number of great innovative and technically advanced products that we can recommend. We tend to forget that you may want to know what products we are using because we are doers and not sales people. We know you’re with us to relax not be sold too. However if you want to carry on great hair at home ask us! and we’ll point you in the right direction.
And remember we are happy to talk to you about your hair any time ( oh well maybe not on a very busy Saturday) but pretty much any other time! Some of you have recently started tweeting us and sending us your selfies, questions and hair dilemma’s. Again go for it. We are here to make you look and feel great!
