We were recently contacted by Sara Jones. Sara had very long blond hair, hair that many would be envious of. And for many children the sort of hair a princess may have, certainly those in the Disney movies. However Sara is a real woman, with three real little girls of her own and a life! Sara had decided that it was time to errr, “Let it go” The hair was beginning to get in the way.
Sara also decided that she would donate her gorgeous locks to the Little Princess trust. At WWW.Comb we have done a few haircuts where the hair has been donated to the Little Princess Trust . The hair must be clean and secured when cut. The hair is then sent to China where it is matched with other hair and wigs are made and donated to girls and boys, who through illness have lost their own hair. The Little Princess trust also raises money to buy wigs. Sara decided to raise money for the trust and also Cancer Research.
Obviously we did the transformation at no cost to Sara. She decided to add the money she would have spent to the charity pot. However at WWW.Comb the colour and cut go together. With such a change we thought it was only right to give Sara the complete look and as she was new to WWW.Comb , the full experience!
Before her appointment at the salon we exchanged Facebook messages. I asked “Do you have a style in mind?” She promptly sent me a photo. Which was sort of relief, I thought to myself well she has thought this through! The picture was of a wavy bob on Diana Agron from the TV series Glee.
The colour consultation
The next stage was a colour consultation with Chanel, nominated stylist. Sara is a natural blond with a pale complexion. We decided to enhance her natural colour. Chanel recommended a full head of highlights and the blond refreshed. This gave Sara a sun kissed looked and lighter pieces around the face to frame and add dimension. We decided to go less Diana Agron and channel a little more Uma Thurman. I think Sara liked that idea and we joked about getting a yellow jumpsuit, just like in the movie Kill Bill.
The Cut
Chanel advised to go a little longer on the cut than the picture Sara had brought with her. As Sara’s hair was naturally wavy and would bounce up a little. Chanel also cut in some subtle long layers that would encourage movement and make it easy for Sara to style herself, low maintenance and hassle free is absolutely key for Sara. And she knows that should she need any help or advice she can always come back to us.
Sara has written a really lovely facebook review and we are so pleased she enjoyed her first salon experience in a while. If you wish to donate to Sara’s just giving page click here.
