At WWW.Comb, sometimes we run a competition quite spontaneously and like this one light-hearted and bit daft. This time , the idea was that friends nominated anyone called Amy they thought should win a haircut with us, all done via Facebook and Instagram. However once we’d picked our random Amy out of 70 entries, we decided to be a little bit more generous and do the cut and colour as it nice to create the complete look.
Amy F from Ickenham was nominated by her friend Annie, once we had let both parties know they’d won I asked Annie why she had nominated her friend. This is where is becomes a bit less daft. Annie is not having the best year as she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, it turns out that Amy F has been a brilliant friend while Annie is dealing with this. Annie said of her friend, “She always tries to make me smile and do nice things for me and I’m on one lucky girl to call her one of my closest friends” it turns out that Amy herself really needed a pamper as she has twins that are a year old and one of them is also in and out of hospital. Therefore you can imagine that life is quite hectic! Out of a silly idea I had has come something really quite wonderful. And I speak for everyone at WWW.Comb that we look forward to welcoming Annie back to the salon for a super cool cut and colour once she has kicked Cancer’s ass into next week!
Annie had recommended our salon to her friend but has her regular stylist. The prize offered was with another member of our team and a graduate. We encourage our stylists to take pictures of their work to reassure any new customer that we can deliver on every sort of cut and colour. Luckily our graduates have all got Instagram accounts dedicated to their work and after looking at the stylists work, Amy booked in with Abbie.
Next awkward conversation. If you are a new customer of ours or even a regular but haven’t had colour used on your hair for three months or more we will require you to have an allergy test and a hair strength test. This applies even if you’ve been to another hair salon and had your hair coloured or colour your hair at home. We need to be make sure. This must be done at least 48 hours before your colour appointment. People can be allergic to anything and we would rather refuse you as a customer than you have a reaction under our watch! Likewise we access the strength of your hair to decide which services are right for you. It’s pretty quick and simply requires a dab of hair dye on the sensitive bit of your arm and the strand test, sometimes called a stretch test is to see what condition your hair is in.
Amy went to the salon for her test and consultation, “I popped in for a colour test and met Abbie who was lovely so that put my mind at ease and my friend had also told me how great everyone is. Abbie was lovely and we discussed colours for a good while.”, said Amy
Amy was pleased she had Won, “I couldn’t believe it! I really needed a haircut for my friend’s hens do so it was also really great timing!”
Amy hadn’t had her colour done for a while and her last hair appointment was in March. She needed something manageable as life is hectic with twins. “I need to have something low maintenance and easy to style. But as they are now a year old and things are finally getting easier, I fancied something nice for me! The last year…my hair has pretty much been a state as I’ve had no time! But not anymore!”
Abbie took Amy’s hair to a rich dark chocolate tone and a copper brown ombre. She lightened the style with layers and sweeping fringe. A style that is a twist on the traditional blond ombre and perfect for the new Autumn season.
Abbie, “ I chose to use a red toner on the ends that is semi-permanent. The toner is a conditioner and colour in one and will fade gradually. It is a great way to try a new colour without commitment. If Amy wants to keep this colour we can use the same tone from our permanent range on her next appointment”.
To keep Amy’s colour fresh Abbie recommends using a sulphate free shampoo, if you feel like a red boost we have red colour conditioner that will add a red reflex to the hair and if you have lots of hair but it has a tendency to either frizz or lack shine with have shine drops or smoothing lotion that will also cut down blow dry time.
Amy was delighted with the cut and colour. Asked what she thought of the standard of a graduate at WWW.Comb , “Great! Not only was Abbie really lovely and friendly, she also gave me a good cut and colour”
