Walk like a Man Talk Like a Man

At WWW.Comb we have a larger male clientele than you might think. In fact we surprised ourselves when we looked at the booking sheets and did quick tally. We cater for fellas who want to look current and on trend and have a bit more care and attention taken over their style. However In hairdressing you never stop learning and we wanted to create an exceptional Salon experience for our men.

Two weeks ago Chris Foster, renowned barber and fountain of knowledge for all that is cool in men’s grooming came in.  With a salon full of chaps we commenced with some full on clipper training to learn a new technique of cutting men’s hair.

Chris Foster Barber Cuts

Chris Foster's before and after on our Lovely model Alex

Chris is a clipper maestro, he cuts hair for fashion shows, photo shoots and everyday works at a super posh Men’s Salon in Mayfair. Firstly we talked tools! Chris walked us through his equipment and I swear some of his clippers could have given a Ferrari engine a run for it’s money. This was a class all about precision styling, power-cutting, speed and a super slick finish.

Here are some things we took away from training.
  • How to maintain a masculine silhouette at all times to enhance a male face shape. A simple rule, but even with longer rock star styles we know how to take the weight and bulk out of the style to give it a sexy lean male look.
  • How to cut sideburns to enhance individual face shapes. Sideburns can really make a difference to the balance of a cut. Certain faces suit various sideburn length.
  • How to get a perfect taper and blend on the neckline and again to keep that masculine shape.
  • How to cut the sides close and get a perfect blend of short and long on the cut so It lasts longer! It’s always the sides that seem to grow out and become annoying around the ears!

We also talked about the current styles and celebrities influencing Men’s hairstyles at the moment, from quiffs and rockabilly, the smart urban gent, geek chic and indie Brit.

We are already putting our newly enhanced skills to good use. If you are a man who wants a great fashionable style that is personalised to you pop by and see us. A Gents cut and finish at WWW.Comb is between £20-£25
